Petter Solberg playing in the mud, in one of a few wet spots at Rally Mexico.
Citroën driver Sébastien Loeb carried a 55 second lead into the final day of Rally Mexico and was the favorite to finish in first place. The probable second spot finisher seemed less clear, with Citroën C4 driving opponents Petter Solberg and Sébastien Ogier running incredibly close at the end of Day 2 and into the start of Day 3.
Ogier moved ahead of Solberg in the first stage, which measured at 29.13 kms, more than half of the final day's driving distance. Running behind Loeb though the slippery gravel road, Solberg lost his overnight second position to Ogier, by 4.1 seconds.
Solberg closed the gap behind Ogier in the next to last stage (SS21), and overtook him in the final stage of Day 3 (SS22 - Super Special) to end the rally in second place. Meanwhile, six time WRC champion Frenchman Sébastien Loeb cruised to his fourth straight Rally Mexico win.
