'Seven Deadly' is the first all new studio album from veteran British (mostly) hard rock band UFO, in almost three years. It's packed with the usual great guitar riffs and several songs that are soon to be UFO classics. Songs that are begging to be played live.
The new album, which was released in Europe at the end of February (2012), is due out in North America by mid March. UFO's European tour also starts in March 2012.
Week Six was a week to forget. The Caps looked bad on the ice, were subjected to any manner and number of “what’s wrong” navel-gazing exercises from hockey intelligentsia, and fell almost all the way out of the Eastern Conference’s top-eight. Four weeks ago they were 7-0-0 and dreaming sweet dreams of success. Four weeks later they are 3-7-1 since then and have nightmares that they are playing like also rans. So what did this week have in it?...
Oh For The Road – Coming off Thursday night’s 4-1 loss to the Jets in Winnipeg, the Caps wanted to come out strong on Saturday against the Leafs in the final game of a three-game road trip...

That didn't take long. I always assumed it would be longer until more 2012 Tour dates were announced. This appears to be similar to the 1998 "tour", when Black Sabbath played a bunch of European festival dates. This isn't the full fledged "World Tour" which will commence once the new album actually comes out. Although.. By this point in the process, I'd imagine they'd have all the songs mostly written. It wouldn't surprise me to hear at least one new song on these festival dates...
Following yesterday's debut of two new banners, Yahoo!'s Movie Talk posted an interview with The Avengers writer and director Joss Whedon. Here are a few highlights from the article:...

Back in 1999, Tony Martin hooked up with Italian guitarist Dario Mollo to produce a project called "The Cage". It proved popular, so a second Cage album came out a few years later in 2002. But that was it. Until now. Announced today is a third Cage album from the Martin / Mollo combination, entited "The Third Cage". Not a terribly imaginative album title (heh), but if the first track available from it is any indication, it's gonna kick ass...

I've never liked August much. The lull in the NHL's offseason combined with rising temperatures and humidity make this month seem the most removed from hockey. For those who enjoy the sport, it can result in a restless time waiting for the start of training camp, a fresh sheet of ice and the buzz of a new season. Are we there yet?
As most of you know by now, I'll be taking over the Capitals beat at the Post as the tireless Tarik El-Bashir moves on to other reporting ventures. Now that there's a new banner on Capitals Insider, I wanted to introduce myself...

Ford team principal Malcolm Wilson is confident the British-based squad can bounce back on Rallye Deutschland next week, after its last outing on asphalt.
The Ford team arrives in Trier knowing that Citroen and Sebastien Loeb have never been beaten on the German event - and that, last time out on asphalt, the Focus RS WRC suffered its heaviest defeat ever to the C4 WRC. That, as far as Wilson is concerned, is history...
Formula One racing has a long and illustrious past in the United States, but one that has been rather sporadic of late. No surprise then that news the US Grand Prix will be back on the calendar for 2012 has been met with universal excitement. For fans, seeing F1 cars battle it out again on American soil is a dream come true, whilst for teams, manufacturers and sponsors the marketing potential of a stateside race is second to none. However, for the two men responsible for the return - Formula One Group CEO Bernie Ecclestone and Tavo Hellmund, managing partner of Full Throttle Productions LP - it’s been a far more personal quest...

The number one thing you need to know is that I have cancer. It wasn’t absolutely formally diagnosed until yesterday...

Former Journey singer Steve Perry has strongly denied allegations from US comedienne Sarah Silverman that he’s a racist.
In a recent Playboy interview the controversial Silverman claimed that “the one-time lead singer of a very popular band from the 1980s” said to her: “You’re my favourite comedian. You have the best... *Dan, Jr. / Junior's Eyes Note: From what I've experienced, Sarah Silverman seems a talentless, annoying piece. I had never heard anything bad about Steve Perry before this, and it's hard to believe anything Silverman says. Without witnesses, it's hard to say whether or not this was just another attempt at gaining attention, or if there is any truth to the implication.

The greeting from the congressman in his office this week was sudden and startling: “Can you blog and walk at the same time?” Nebraska Representative Lee Terry, smiling, asked as he stepped out of a closed-door meeting to meet me.
I was more than a little nervous meeting the congressman on Tuesday. Standing next to the world’s greatest hockey player 40 or 50 nights each winter with a digital recorder is old hat; being in the Rayburn House Office Building awaiting a one-on-one interview with a member of Congress most definitely is not. Washington is home to the no. 1 power play in all the NHL, but that’s a power play that’s no match for the power played up on Capitol Hill...
Washington continues its four-game road trip with a Thursday night visit with the Carolina Hurricanes at the RBC Center. With wins in the first two stops on the trip in Chicago and Florida, the Caps have put themselves in position to tie the single-season franchise record for road victories if they can take two points from the Hurricanes. The Capitals are 9-1-2 in their last dozen road games...
We're closing in on the end of the month. Here's my 'Reading And Viewing List' for January 26 through January 28, 2010. I hope you find these as interesting as I have.

It hasn’t been my desire to comment on the status of the discussions between Lincoln Holdings - the partnership group I’m involved in that owns the Washington Capitals and Washington Mystics and WSELP, which owns the Wizards, the Verizon Center, and the Washington-area Ticketmaster franchise. Yet with the news reports out there this morning, it probably makes sense to clear some things up...

...I was surprised to see Jiggy (J.S. Giguere) in net for the visitors, but he was effective in holding back the Caps' sizzling offense, until the third period that is. The feisty boys from Disneyland had their game faces on, if just for a moment, and after the roasting began, they started getting nasty...

Both teams had played the night before, Washington winning and the Ducks losing. Both teams had produced strong scoring chances and both had gotten excellent goaltending.
