The Valencia Street Circuit, in Valencia, Spain, was the site for Formula One's 2012 European Grand Prix race on June 24, 2012. It was the eighth race on the 2012 calendar.

Fernando Alonso (Spain), driving for Scuderia Ferrari, passed the checkered flag first. He became the first Formula One driver to claim a second win this season, and regained the championship points lead. Kimi Räikkönen (Finland), driving for Lotus Renault, took second place. Räikkönen had two seconds and one third place finish, at this point. Making it three former champions on the podium, Michael Schumacher (Germany) of Mercedes AMG Petronas came in third for this race.

Below are the links for two Formula1.com race reviews. Also included, are a few videos.

Posted at Formula1.com on June 25, 2012

There are no guarantees in life - and even fewer in Formula One racing - as Sunday’s remarkable European Grand Prix proved. Only the wiliest fan would have bet on Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso winning from 11th on the grid. But in a rollercoaster race experience really counted, and as the sport’s younger contingent fell by the wayside thanks to issues and incidents, it was comeback veterans Kimi Raikkonen and Michael Schumacher who joined Alonso on the podium. We take a team-by-team look back at a captivating afternoon in Valencia...

Does Alex Semin Need an Elite Center to Succeed?
By Kareem E. at Japers' Rink

Two weeks ago we completed our annual wrap of Capitals forward Alexander Semin. One of the questions at the end of the recap asked if Semin needed an elite center to pull more out of the enigmatic player. Challenging contemporary hockey wisdom, some openly thought no, that Semin, a wing, was enough of a playmaker that he could dictate play regardless of who he had as his pivot. It's an important question to answer, because if the answer is indeed "no", the Caps do not need to chase a high-cost center this summer...

Q: Sebastian, fourth time of asking and you finally convert one of those poles into a race win.
Sebastian Vettel: Yeah, it is about time I would say. It wasn’t the easiest way so far but what happened, happened. We cannot change it but it is good to be back and on a circuit where we didn’t expect to be that strong, to be quick enough all the time in the race to slightly pull away, find the gap, and then carry the car home...

Lewis Hamilton Q&A: Penalty was fair

Sebastian Vettel Q&A: European victory a surprise

Sebastian Vettel got his title challenge back on track on Sunday after ending his recent victory drought with an excellent win in Valencia. Europe analysis - Vettel back on the title trail
Posted at Formula1.com on June 28, 2010

Given Red Bull’s pace this season, it’s hard to believe that Sebastian Vettel’s European Grand Prix victory was only his second win of the season. Lewis Hamilton may have extended his championship lead with second place, but Vettel now has him - and McLaren team mate Jenson Button - firmly back in his sights. It was not such a great afternoon for two other title contenders, with Mark Webber’s dramatic crash and Fernando Alonso losing out under the safety car, leaving the Spaniard and Ferrari infuriated. We take a team-by-team look back at Sunday’s events in Valencia...

Friday analysis - blown diffuser promising for Ferrari
Posted at Formula1.com

Many teams were keen to get out and try significant modifications to their aerodynamic packages in Valencia on Friday. The programmes were relatively uncomplicated on the medium compound Bridgestone prime tyres on the dusty track. That changed when they attempted to go quicker on the super soft compound option tyre, which grained laterally and transversely in the morning. The track temperature all through the second session was a consistent 24 degrees Celsius, however, and even though the surface was still ‘green’ things were much better. We take a team-by-team look at day one in Spain...

Practice Two - Alonso pips Vettel in Valencia

Fernando Alonso made best use of Ferrari’s new aero package to set the fastest lap in the second practice session in Valencia on Friday afternoon. The local hero’s 1m 39.283s best was 0.056s faster than Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel who recorded 1m 39.339s, and 0.144s ahead of the German’s team mate Mark Webber on 1m 39.427s...

Practice One - Rosberg and Mercedes in front
Posted at Formula1.com

Nico Rosberg pipped the two McLarens for the fastest time in Valencia on Friday morning, stopping the clocks for Mercedes GP with 1m 41.175s. That was 0.164s faster than Lewis Hamilton’s 1m 41.339s, and 0.208s better than Jenson Button’s 1m 41.383s.

It’s early days, however, as the number of drivers running wide in Turn Two testified to the ‘green’ nature of the track, which remained extremely slippery...

Pre-Europe analysis - Ferrari feeling upbeat for Valencia
Posted at Formula1.com

Ferrari are very optimistic that they will turn a corner this weekend and fight for victory, now that their F10 is fitted with the ‘blown’ diffuser that is one of the keys to Red Bull’s aerodynamic advantage. The system basically uses the positioning of the exhaust system to direct hot air over the double diffuser, increasing the level of downforce. Cleverly, Ferrari gave Fernando Alonso a brief shakedown run in the revised car at Fiorano last week, as part of a filming project...
