The opening race of the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship Season took place in Sakhir, Bahrain last Sunday - March 14, 2010. The winner of the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix was Fernando Alonso (Scuderia Ferrari), although it might have been Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Racing / Renault) as experts had predicted, if Vettel's car hadn't suffered spark plug failure toward the end of the race and landed him in fourth place.
Did that unfortunate circumstance cost Vettel first place, or would two time F1 champion (2005, 2006) Alonso have pulled ahead anyway? Did the rest of the pack come out as expected? For some expert opinions on those questions, driver reactions and total race analysis, I've scooped up some of the articles posted to Formula1.com over the past week. You'll find the title links along with the usual teaser snippets and a race day video below.

Alonso and Ferrari romp to victory in Bahrain
Posted at Formula1.com on March 14, 2010
Fernando Alonso drove a superbly judged race to emulate Nigel Mansell and Kimi Raikkonen, as he sped to victory on his debut for Ferrari in Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix. Alonso chased Sebastian Vettel’s fleet Red Bull fruitlessly in the early stages, when both were running the super-soft Bridgestone tyres, but had an advantage after they had respectively switched to the harder compound on Laps 17 and 16...

Bahrain race analysis - Ferrari off to a flier
Posted at Formula1.com on March 15, 2010
After spending the last two seasons in relatively uncompetitive machinery, there was a mix of relief and elation on Fernando Alonso’s face following his debut win with Ferrari on Sunday, having displayed at Sakhir the skills that made him a double world champion. Team mate Felipe Massa, in his first Grand Prix since life-threatening injury last July, was not complaining either as he ensured a one-two for the Scuderia, who left McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes firmly in the shade. We take a team-by-team look at the opening round of 2010...
Sebastian Vettel Q&A: It should have been Red Bull’s day
Posted at Formula1.com on March 15, 2010
It’s no secret that Sebastian Vettel hates losing - especially when he knows he should have won. In Sunday’s Bahrain Grand Prix, his Red Bull started from pole and looked to be not just the quickest car, but also a very tyre-friendly one on an excellent race strategy. That was until technical gremlins intervened. Vettel can only hope it was a one-off and for the German, his season now starts in Melbourne...
