Happy birthday to Brian Downey, who became 58 years old today. This Irish drummer, was born in Dublin January 27, 1951. Along with bassist / singer Phil Lynott, Downey co-founded Thin Lizzy, one of the best bands to ever come from the Emerald Isle.
Thin Lizzy - "Jailbreak" at Sydney Opera House Austrailia 1978.

Great clip. But it's hard to go wrong with Thin Lizzy.
I knew their radio hits from early in my life, but here's when I became a Thin Lizzy fan:
In 1997 (?) I saw Henry Rollins in one of his stand-up philosophy talking shows. Funny, insightful stuff, a lot of 'em are on DVD. He talked about what a huge Lynott fan he was: "Doesn't matter what mood I'm in, Thin Lizzy works. When I get The Girl, I put on Jailbreak. 'Boys Are Back in Town' hits the spot. And when The Girl dumps my sorry ass, I simply flip the LP over. 'You broke my heart, but I'd come running back to you again!'" Also said he had a mix tape for workouts: 90 minutes, all sad Thin Lizzy songs to help tap into that You-Broke-My-Heart energy. Inspired me to dig a little deeper into the Thin Lizzy records, and I became a big-time fan.
And by the way, I added the "underrated drummer" reference to Downey's Wikipedia page. Someone added the "This Page Has No Reputable Citations" label, so I cited the Allmusic.com reference.
Thin Lizzy really have created tunes to fit any mood. Even so, you instantly recognize it's them playing. Too bad most people only know them for "The Boys Are Back In Town".
Nice reference job on the Wiki page for Downey. Always good to have real and true information included on information sites. So amazing to me how much bad information, if any shows up at all, is posted on Wikipedia type sites.
