Live Blog from 2010 NHL Entry Draft

8:14 PM Caps take Evgeny Kuznetsov at No. 26. Back from the Kuznetsov, McPhee and Mahoney press scrums. My first reaction is that Kuznetsov sounds a lot like Alexander Semin. Ross Mahoney told us that he shares the puck better than Semin did at the same age and that Kuznetsov has the ability to play center. Kuznetsov told us that he has two years remaining on his KHL contract and that he will definitely attend the Capitals’ July development camp...

Friday analysis - blown diffuser promising for Ferrari
Posted at Formula1.com
Many teams were keen to get out and try significant modifications to their aerodynamic packages in Valencia on Friday. The programmes were relatively uncomplicated on the medium compound Bridgestone prime tyres on the dusty track. That changed when they attempted to go quicker on the super soft compound option tyre, which grained laterally and transversely in the morning. The track temperature all through the second session was a consistent 24 degrees Celsius, however, and even though the surface was still ‘green’ things were much better. We take a team-by-team look at day one in Spain...

Practice Two - Alonso pips Vettel in Valencia
Posted at Formula1.com
Fernando Alonso made best use of Ferrari’s new aero package to set the fastest lap in the second practice session in Valencia on Friday afternoon. The local hero’s 1m 39.283s best was 0.056s faster than Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel who recorded 1m 39.339s, and 0.144s ahead of the German’s team mate Mark Webber on 1m 39.427s...
Practice One - Rosberg and Mercedes in front
Posted at Formula1.com
Nico Rosberg pipped the two McLarens for the fastest time in Valencia on Friday morning, stopping the clocks for Mercedes GP with 1m 41.175s. That was 0.164s faster than Lewis Hamilton’s 1m 41.339s, and 0.208s better than Jenson Button’s 1m 41.383s.
It’s early days, however, as the number of drivers running wide in Turn Two testified to the ‘green’ nature of the track, which remained extremely slippery...
Pre-Europe analysis - Ferrari feeling upbeat for Valencia
Posted at Formula1.com
Ferrari are very optimistic that they will turn a corner this weekend and fight for victory, now that their F10 is fitted with the ‘blown’ diffuser that is one of the keys to Red Bull’s aerodynamic advantage. The system basically uses the positioning of the exhaust system to direct hot air over the double diffuser, increasing the level of downforce. Cleverly, Ferrari gave Fernando Alonso a brief shakedown run in the revised car at Fiorano last week, as part of a filming project...
