CR AWARDS: Queen
By gbarton at Classic Rock
Queen won the Best Reissue Of The Year Award – come inside for exclusive chinwags with none other than guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor...
...Do you have any theories about why those old Queen albums are still so popular?
Taylor: That’s such a difficult question to answer, there were so many great bands that didn’t last the way we have. We definitely put our hearts into what we did back then. It was beautifully crafted; Freddie and Brian were always utter perfectionists.
May: We were also very competitive at the beginning, and that contributed to our high standards. Being so critical of each other definitely helped to raise the bar. We could all be self-indulgent, but between the four of us we managed to stop that.
Are the newspaper rumours true, is Lady Gaga going to join Queen?
Taylor: No. Even though she nicked the name [from Radio GaGa].
May: It’ll never happen.

Abu Dhabi preview - DRS to dial up electric Yas Marina
Posted at Formula1.com
Last year the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix saw Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel snatch the world championship crown from Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and his own team mate Mark Webber, but the dearth of overtaking played a key role in the final outcome. This year both the drivers' and constructors' titles are long settled, but the use of DRS could make for a much more exciting race...

POSTGAME NOTEBOOK: Stars 5, Capitals 2
By Mike Vogel - Senior Writer at WashingtonCaps.com
No D vs. Big D – For the last two-thirds of the 2010-11 season, the Washington Capitals were the league’s stingiest defensive team. And they were the stingiest team the league had seen in a decade or so...
Racing against the clock - 2011 pit stops analysed
Posted at Formula1.com
The combination of DRS and Pirelli tyres has made 2011 a bumper year for the sport, but not just in terms of on-track passing manoeuvres. The characteristics of the Pirelli tyres, designed to improve the racing, have also seen the total number of pit stops rise steeply - so far, there have been an average of 58 stops per race. Slick pit work has always been important in Formula One racing, but the frequency with which the pit crews have been in action this year has brought both speed and consistency to the fore. Mercedes explain more...

POSTGAME NOTEBOOK: Islanders 5, Capitals 3
By Mike Vogel - Senior Writer at WashingtonCaps.com
Caps Can’t KO DiPietro – Through the game’s first 20 minutes, Washington had the homestanding New York Islanders right where they wanted them. The Caps owned a 2-0 lead, Isles goaltender Rick DiPietro looked shaky to the point that the fans were chanting for back-up Al Montoya as the clock wound down in the first frame, and the offensively challenged Islanders were up to more than 100 minutes since they scored their last goal...
Review: All-star cast shines in 'Masterpiece' film 'Page Eight'
By Alan Sepinwall at What's Alan Watching? via HitFix.com
..."Page Eight" was written and directed by David Hare, who wrote the scripts for "The Reader" and "The Hours" but is a playwright by trade. And there's a very stage-like quality to the film, much of it consisting of Johnny sitting in conference rooms and drawing rooms discussing his life, his legacy and the current state of British intelligence with friends and colleagues, most of them played by a murderer's row of British (and/or Australian) character actors. In addition to Bill Nighy as Johnny, we have Michael Gambon as Benedict, Judy Davis as their colleague Jill, Rachel Weisz as Johnny's inquisitive neighbor Nancy, Ralph Fiennes as the British prime minister, Alice Krige as one of Johnny's many ex-wives and Felicity Jones as their estranged daughter...
Alice Cooper - Welcome 2 My Nightmare
By Ollie at The Ripple Effect
He’s back ... the man behind the mask. Well, strictly Alice has never really gone away. Now Alice, in my humble opinion, has never made a truly terrible album although some do shine far brighter than others. 1975’s original Welcome To My Nightmare set, however, stands head and shoulders above anything else in his solo career. As a die hard Alice fan, when I heard in 2010 he was working on a sequel to that album, Hell, I was intrigued...

Five Unanswered – Washington came into Friday night’s game with Carolina as the league’s most prolific offensive team with an average of 3.9 goals per game. That average will get a bit of a bump northward after the Caps trounced the Hurricanes 5-1 at RBC Center in a four-point Southeast Division contest...

The Prison In Space - Scriptbook

...Eager to inject some humour into the series, producer Innes Lloyd called upon experienced scriptwriter, Dick Sharples, to come up with a story that would inject a lighter tone into Doctor Who. Twisted Sister - Double Live DVD/Live At the Marquee CD
By Woody at The Ripple Effect
A few months ago I wrote a frantic, drooling review of the reissue of Twisted Sister's debut album Under The Blade. It came with a bonus live DVD of their hell raising performance at the 1982 Reading Festival in the UK. As great as that package is, 2 others have come out and blow it away. In July the Double Live DVD was released containing a full live show from 1982 and their reunion at the 2001 NY Steel benefit, and just a few weeks ago Rhino released an audio CD called Live At The Marquee recorded in 1983...

Laich Line, Life Line – For the first half of tonight’s Caps-Ducks game, things weren’t going the home team’s way. Although they stayed out of the penalty box and generally limited Anaheim’s chances at even strength, the Caps found themselves on the short end of a 3-0 score
