IIHF Hall Of Fame 2008 Inductions
The IIHF inducted seven new members into their Hall Of Fame last week. These were of course internationally known hockey people. You should recognise some of the names, if you've been following the sport for any amount of time. Igor Larionov and Mario Lemieux were among the male players. Three women were also inducted, including Tony Granato's sister Cammi Granato. Cammi is the all time leading scorer of women's international ice hockey. It's nice to see some women finally get recognised for their contributions.

Thanks for the post on great women in hockey. These three pioneers finally got the recognition they deserve for excelling in a male-dominated sport.
Please look for my post in early June about women's ice hockey in DC. I've interviewed phenomenal players from the Washington Pride, American University Lady Eagles, and the Washington Wolves.
I'm just sorry that I don't have the resources (time, money, etc.) to include more stories of women and their accomplishments. Personally, I like women. I don't understand why mainstream media puts women on the back burner. More exposure would cause more interest. More interest would mean more money, which is all that most media and advertisers care about anyway.
Why not get guest writers? I'll admit that I never watched women's sports but after interviewing these women hockey players, I've converted. I definitely will be helping to create more interest in women's hockey.
I'm not sure how I feel about the guest writer thing.
Local schools don't bother to advertise anything other than football and basketball. Did you know that the University Of MD has a Men's and a Women's Ice Hockey team? How do they expect to sell tickets, if nobody knows there's something to go see?
