Ovechkin Gets 13 Years

As posted on the Washington Capitals web site, Alexander Ovechkin has agreed to a 13 year contract extension. According to Tarik El-Bashir at washingtonpost.com, Alex will get $124 million over the 13 years of the new contract. Tarik says it will be $9 million for each of the first six years, then the remaining seven years at $10 million each.
.
Tarik's article includes the following quote from Ovechkin, as he spoke to the fans at the Meet The Team event held at Verizon Centre tonight.
.
"I want to say thanks to all my teammates, the whole organization, to Ted, George, the coaching staff, [Glen Hanlon].......I'm proud to be with the Washington Capitals for 13 years more...... Our goal is to bring a Stanley Cup here."
.
Let out that big ol' sigh of relief Caps fans. Your prayers have been answered. The day is finally here!
