Ovechkin: We must be united like fingers in the fist
Pavel Lysenkov interview and more - posted by tj at Alex Ovetjkin

..."Why are you standing here? Ovechkin just got in!" a joyful exclamation of a passerby pulled me out of whatever I was doing and I slid down the stairs from the second floor of the "Russia House". "The master! The master has arrived!," or something like this, that was the public reaction of the crowd.

Yes, Alexander Mikhailovich Ovechkin granted the "Russian House" a visit.

Those hour and a half of his evening were lined in a tight schedule, in the course of which the most valuable NHL player and Jagr's destroyer was supposed to give a dozen interviews to various TV companies in the world...

2010 Olympics Hockey - It's "Showtime"....
By Usually Frustrated Caps Fan

So for both the men's and women's hockey teams and brackets it's really showtime now.

On the Woman's side we are down to the two medal games - Canad vs USA for the Gold and Finland vs. Sweden for the Bronze. These will be two really good games between two evenly matched sets of opponents so they should be a blast to watch. I'm calling them as follows:...

Loeb says no to Le Mans
Posted at WRC.com

Sebastien Loeb has turned down the chance to drive a Peugeot 908 for the factory team at this year's Le Mans 24 Hours because of the amount of time he would have to dedicate to the project.

Due to start on 12 June, this year's Le Mans is the first since 2006 not to clash with a round of the WRC, prompting speculation that sportscar racing fan Loeb would join Peugeot's squad, run by Citroen Racing boss Olivier Quesnel...

Grohl And Hawkins: Foo Fighters’ Future
By mdome at Classic Rock

Lots to come on The Foo Fighters’ drummer and his own project, Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders, but for now this is what he has to say about the future of the Foos:

“It’s gonna be a very busy year for both myself and Dave [Grohl]. I have my band – and he’s busy with Them Crooked Vultures. But we will find time to sit down and start planning the next album from The Foo Fighters. The aim is to get a really solid basis for it.”...

Russian media complains too
By tj at Alex Ovetjkin

There's a big discussion over at Japer's Rink about another journalist getting angry at Ovechkin not responding to the media:...

Personally I have a feeling the team Russia's coaching staff or the majority of players dictated to others not to talk to the media. I can remind you about the first day of team Russia training:
On the way to the locker room reserve goalkeeper Vasily Koshechkin even muttered through his mask about the media, "Everybody's wating for one guy!" It took Ovechkin about an hour to make his way to the locker room while he was talking to the media...

Bruce Willis Says M. Night Shyamalan 'Still Thinking' About 'Unbreakable 2'
By Rick Marshall at MTV's Splash Page

Confession time, folks: There are a few of us around Splash Page HQ who are big fans of M. Night Shyamalan's dark superhero tale "Unbreakable" — so we can't help bringing up the possibility of a sequel every time we talk to the filmmaker or one of the film's cast. Back in June 2009, Shyamalan told us that he still had plans for a sequel, so when we caught up with actor Bruce Willis during this weekend's "Cop Out" junket, we had to get his take on whether we'll ever see "Unbreakable 2."...

'Heroes' Creator Discusses Series' Decline, Says Network Forbids Killing Certain Characters
By Josh Wigler at MTV's Splash Page

A Miracle Acknowledged by Today’s American Hockey Stars
By The OFB Team at On Frozen Blog

Up in Hershey this past weekend our blogger colleague Eric McErlain of Off Wing Opinion joined us in a patriotic questioning of the Hershey Bears’ John Carlson. Carlson of course etched his name in American hockey lore last month, sudden-death silencing Canadians in Saskatoon and delivering the American Under-20 team gold. With the arrival of the 30th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice we wanted to know if that seminal moment in American sports history had any relevance for today’s generation of American hockey stars...

Rally Sweden nightmare still a mystery, says Solberg
Posted at WRC.com

Former World Rally Champion Petter Solberg is still trying to discover why his 2010 title campaign got of to such a poor start on the opening round in Sweden.

Equipped with the latest customer spec C4 World Rally Car from Citroen, great things had been expected of Solberg who won Rally Sweden in 2005. But the Norwegian's chances of repeating that success got off to a terrible start when he spun and lost his front bumper on the rally opening Super Special...

Please note on the Tournado Box Set offer... 2/21/2010 2:00:52 PM

We test drove the Tournado Box Set, and in doing so, realized that the DVD is formatted in PAL format, and as such, will not play on US DVD players.

We apologize to the US and Japanese fans for this oversight, but these box sets were made for the European tour which was cancelled, and we did not realize that they would [not] play in the US until we actually tried to play it.

With Team Sweden defeating Team Finland last night/early this morning (depending on your time zone), the preliminary round of men’s ice hockey at the Vancouver Olympics came to a close. Maybe . . . Just Maybe . . . NBC Wishes It Had Run Hockey
Last Night

By The OFB Team at On Frozen Blog

...it was bizarre to see NBC (Nothing But Curling) run a 30-minute, spectacularly well produced feature on it, hosted by Al Michaels, less than two hours before Team USA faced off against Canada in the most highly anticipated international hockey game in years, only to jettison the broadcast of the game to its hinterland cable partner, MSNBC. Just bizarre.

It was also bizarre to see NBC News treat last night’s game as a mega-event a mere 30 minutes before puck-drop. The game and its fevered anticipation led the very top of the 7:00 NBC Evening News. And on the home page for NBC’s Olympics coverage yesterday afternoon, this headline: “It’s hockey night in Vancouver.” Just bizarre...
