On December 4, 1971, the Montreux Casino in Switzerland was set on fire by someone messing about with a flare gun during a Frank Zappa (December 21, 1940 – December 4, 1993) concert. The story of the tragedy was eventually chronicled in the world famous and often covered Deep Purple song aptly titled "Smoke on the Water".
Therefore, I offer that very song as the 'Today's Tune' for this December 4th. You might have noticed that American guitarist and songwriter Zappa also latter died on this day in 1993. Rest in peace, Frank.
