Today's Tune: "Black Water"
By The Doobie Brothers

Happy Birthday Patrick Simmons. Simmons, guitarist, singer and co-founder (1970) of The Doobie Brothers, was born on October 19, 1948. He has been a part of the band for every album and every concert tour they've ever done.

The songs he wrote on his own usually landed on the B-Side of the Doobie's singles in the early days. Their first song to get to number one was originally another of those B-Side tracks. Patrick Simmons wrote, played lead guitar and sang lead vocals on "Black Water". So, the song makes it to our 'Today's Tune' for today.
